This workshop dives into cannabis-induced psychosis (CIP), a mental health condition triggered by
cannabis use. It explores the epidemiology, risk factors, and the biological mechanisms behind CIP. The
workshop will also detail clinical features, assessment methods for diagnosis, and treatment approaches,
including both medical and psychosocial interventions.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Identify the trends and risks of cannabis.
- Define the psychiatric and medical pathology of cannabis.
- Identify symptoms that differentiate CIP and primary psychosis.
- List the ways to assess, diagnose and treat CIP.

She has more than 20 years of experience as a licensed and board-certified internal medicine physician and with a long-held passion for treating mental health conditions. Dr. Ashbaugh has extensive experience treating adolescents and adults for complicated physical illness, mental health disorders, and addiction.
