ABOUT US

A MISSION FOR MICHAEL

We Are Seasoned Mental Healthcare Providers, Passionate About Helping Others Change Their Lives For The Better.

AMFM is an integrative treatment provider specializing in acute primary psychiatric and dual-diagnosis care.

Each of our homes houses a small number of clients with a dedicated clinical team to provide an intimate treatment environment. This allows us to service a large range of clinical issues and still provide a very individualized treatment process.

Each patient will receive a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and will have a weekly individual assessment with our psychiatrist. Our medical team is available with full-time onsite psychiatry. We provide medication management and education, life skills training, psychoeducation, group therapy, and individualized therapy with a designated treatment team.

A Mission For Michael Origin Story

A Mission for Michael (AMFM Mental Health Treatment) was founded in memory of Michael, whose struggle with mental illness ended in tragedy. Determined to prevent other families from experiencing the same heartbreak, his family established A Mission for Michael to provide the critical support needed for others facing similar challenges. They built AMFM as a place of hope, where compassionate professionals provide expert care, deep understanding, and support that enables lasting healing.

AMFM was created to ensure that individuals struggling with mental health receive the support they need. Too often, individuals and their families feel lost when facing the challenges of mental illness, unsure of where to turn or how to find real help. Mental illness doesn’t just affect individuals—it affects entire families, leaving them searching for answers and support. AMFM was built to bridge that gap, offering clinically excellent care in a compassionate, home-like environment supported by a team of mental health experts who are deeply committed to each person’s healing.

Today, AMFM remains true to the mission that inspired our founding. As we have grown, our core philosophy has never changed—we continue to provide the same supportive, expert-driven care and every individual who walks through our doors is met with dedication, clinical excellence, and a commitment to lasting healing. As we expand our reach, our purpose remains the same: to be a place of hope, healing, and transformation for those navigating the challenges of mental illness.

Who We Are

We are dedicated and experienced healthcare professionals. Many residential treatment programs are staffed by individuals with little to no clinical experience or certifications. A Mission for Michael is different. We employ clinicians who have a Master’s or Doctorate-level education in mental healthcare. You can expect that staff members who direct group, family, and individual therapy are highly qualified and experienced in order to give evidence-based, up-to-date treatment that yields results.

How We Treat

Treatment for primary mental health diagnoses requires a multi-disciplinary approach to optimize outcomes and it takes a lifelong commitment to maintain stability.

Our treatment program encompasses 6 core competencies:

Our clinicians were chosen not only for their specific expertise in acute mental health care, but also for their ability to teach our clients long-term effective habits for successful living. Maintaining a dedicated clinical staff to a small population allows us to provide a deeply personal experience and individualized treatment planning allows us to set specific treatment goals with the collaboration of our clients. We believe in engaging the family from the beginning and that building trust with each family member is critical to learning the unique background of each client.

We understand the importance of a calm, safe and comfortable environment in order to be conducive to healing. Our homes are beautifully maintained and designed with the intent of being a peaceful space for recovery.

Each patient will receive a comprehensive psychiatric evaluation and will have a weekly individual assessment with our psychiatrist. Our medical team is available 24/7 with full-time onsite psychiatry. We provide medication management and education, life skills training, psychoeducation, group therapy, and individualized therapy with a designated treatment team.

Mission Connection is a compassion-driven, evidence-based, clinical program. By embracing the telehealth platform, we are able to offer virtual outpatient support to adults struggling with primary mental health diagnoses such as anxiety, depression, and mood disorders. We provide the same level of quality care as we do at our residential programs with our team of masters and doctorate-level clinicians developing custom treatment plans that cater to each client’s specific needs.

Our Philosophy

Our core values are embedded in every aspect of our approach to mental health treatment.

Persistent:

We reject the idea that clients are “treatment-resistant.” Instead, we believe that we need to be treatment persistent. We start with determination on day one and maintain that resolve- and we believe we can foster lasting change for anyone who asks for help.

Connection:

The heart and soul of recovery is a connection with oneself, family, and community. When we reinforce these connections, we make sure our clients have a strong support system- both while they’re with us and after they leave.

Going the Extra Mile:

We’re not just here to provide care- we’re here to provide the best care. We’re proactive about meeting our clients’ needs instead of reactively playing catch-up.  Because we go the extra mile, we’re always looking for ways to improve their experience and their outcomes.

Details Matter:

The smallest details can matter the most. We take pride in thinking through every aspect of our services so that nothing is left to chance. We believe that lots of little details add up to a big difference in care.

Curiosity:

Even though we’re experts, we know there’s always room to learn and grow. We stay open-minded, continuously seeking out and applying breakthrough innovations and methods. That way, we can always be confident we’re offering the best possible care to our clients.

Every aspect of what we do at AMFM is based on these five principles, from the services we offer to how we treat each guest.

World-Class Expertise

We know we’re only as good as the care we’re able to provide. That’s why we made sure we had a strong partner in the Beck Institute, the globally recognized leader in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT). This partnership helps form our overarching care approach and improves our ability to integrate evidence-based intervention into every aspect of care.

Although we’re proud of our partnership with Beck Institute, we’re no one-trick pony – we know the importance of a comprehensive therapeutic toolkit. That’s why we make sure we’re staffed with clinicians who are experts in a wide range of approaches. This dual approach allows us to craft a truly personalized and dynamic recovery experience for anyone who walks through our doors.

Here’s more about how we stay on the cutting edge of mental health treatments:

Trained by The Beck Institute:

The Beck Institute is recognized worldwide for their work pioneering Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, considered the gold-standard of treatment by many clinicians. More recently, they’ve been working on Recovery-Oriented Cognitive Therapy (CTR), a model emphasizing each client’s inherent strengths and motivations to foster resilience and progress. By integrating the principles of CTR into our programs, we provide a strengths-based, progressive framework for recovery.

The Beck Institute has designed a customized AMFM training programs for our therapists and direct care staff, so that anyone who comes into contact with clients and guests are equipped to support the CTR approach effectively.

A Spectrum of Clinical Expertise:

Our treatment philosophy is based on Beck and CTR, but our teams’ clinicians are fluent in a much broader range of therapies. The team at our clinic is proficient in everything from EMDR to DBT. Having this wide selection of modalities lets us provide flexible, tailored treatment plans that can address a variety of mental health conditions.

Our partnership with the Beck Institute, along with our clinicians’ extensive expertise, sets AMFM apart in the mental health care landscape. We combine world-class foundational techniques with a comprehensive array of therapeutic approaches so we can deliver a nuanced, individualized approach to recovery.
