This one-hour interactive workshop is designed to equip clinicians with the knowledge and skills to provide neurodivergent-affirming therapeutic support by addressing ableism in clinical practice. Participants will explore how traditional therapeutic approaches can inadvertently perpetuate ableism and how to adapt these practices to be more inclusive and effective for neurodivergent clients.

LEARNING OBJECTIVES

  • Define ableism in the context of therapeutic practice and recognize its impact
on the therapeutic relationship with neurodivergent clients.
  • Identify key neurodivergent processing styles and explore how these
variances influence therapeutic engagement and outcomes.
  • Recognize the need for collaboratively tailoring therapeutic approaches to
    better support neurodivergent clients.
