This one-hour interactive workshop is designed to equip clinicians with the
knowledge and skills to provide neurodivergent-affirming therapeutic support by
addressing ableism in clinical practice. Participants will explore how traditional
therapeutic approaches can inadvertently perpetuate ableism and how to adapt
these practices to be more inclusive and effective for neurodivergent clients.
LEARNING OBJECTIVES
- Define ableism in the context of therapeutic practice and recognize its impact
on the therapeutic relationship with neurodivergent clients. - Identify key neurodivergent processing styles and explore how these
variances influence therapeutic engagement and outcomes. - Recognize the need for collaboratively tailoring therapeutic approaches to
better support neurodivergent clients.

Jennifer Glacel is a founder and president of the Board of Directors of the Washington Interdisciplinary Neurodivergence Group, or
WING. Jennifer has been a psychotherapist in private practice since 2009 and is the owner and founder of Seven Corners Psychotherapy. As a
licensed clinical social worker and registered play therapist-supervisor, her focus is working with other clinicians through training and
supervision, to help them understand neurodivergence and autism, increase their skills in play therapy, and using symbols and
sandplay in therapy with clients of all ages.
